David Beckham has claimed Arsenal's English players deserve special treatment because of the club's impressive history. Arsenal are building a squad that has won 13 major trophies since 2005, including the 2010 FA Cup, yet Beckham believes the English players at the club should be treated differently to the rest of the squad. "A team like Arsenal, who have won so many trophies, it's amazing. So many Arsenal players were on that Champions League squad last year. So they deserve a certain treatment and respect and treatment," he said. "I always say when I speak in other countries that if you were to compare us to some of these teams in terms of how they play football and how they conduct themselves on the pitch I think there would be no comparison. "Because of the nature of the club, the history of the club, the players who have been here and because they have been a foundation for the club. "I think the big thing with Arsenal is that we have a responsibility and an opportunity to bring through more young players to do it the right way. That's why I'm so passionate about the young talent we have in our club and why I'm here at the moment." Beckham has just returned to playing and the 37-year-old, who started out with London-based Fulham before moving to Inter Milan, LA Galaxy and LAFC, also talked about a reunion with former United manager Alex Ferguson. "It's been a really good relationship with him. We have had conversations and you never know what can happen in football," he said. "But it's great to get that kind of relationship in football. "It's a pleasure to get out there and play and compete against him. He's a great man to play against and be around and I'm sure we'll see each other soon."The conference room is pretty much empty, save for the presenter and the pen and pad on the table. A couple dozen people in the audience, however, are taking notes, fully absorbed in the subject matter.
